2024 National Science Week

National Science Week, from 10-18 August 2024, is the annual celebration of science and technology.

Take this opportunity to engage with incredible local scientists and get involved in one of the many in-person and online activities.

Some highlights include Soapbox Science at the Queensland Museum, live music at the Planetarium and at Cloncurry, a robotics workshop at Robina and space family fun days at Springfield and Toowoomba.

You can also find out about the fascinating world of quantum and advanced technologies at the Qx one-day symposium.

By participating in science activities, you’ll learn more about the role of science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) in your life.

National Science Week also aims to spark a lifelong curiosity and passion about science among our younger generations. These are the scientists, engineers, inventors and innovators of the future.

Teachers can download a free Species Survival – More than just sustainability resources book to inspire lesson plans.

If you’re looking for an activity for children to do at home, check out the Awesome Activities conservation and sustainability book (PDF, 6.6MB) which features profiles of Queensland scientists and activities like puzzles, experiments and colouring-in.

National Science Week is a program of Inspiring Australia, a national strategy for getting Australians engaged with science.
